Michael Patrick helped start the Johnny Cash Flower Pickin’ Festival in Starkville with his Man in Black tribute band, Ring of Fire.
He and I have become compadres during the last four years. Back in October he and I had a system going at the Starkville City Jail. He and his band mates set up their equipment and performed outside the jail while I gave tours of the “Johnny Cash Suite,” as the sheriff likes to call it.
All festival attendees who enjoyed Justin Townes Earle’s performance owe Mr. Patrick for his willingness to be a part of this event that involves a lot of work but has a huge reward (and I ain’t talking about financial, jeez don’t I know it).
Recently, Michael recorded an album has made it available to download for free. Click here or visit http://www.michael-patrick.net/cd-promo.html to download his album and enjoy his original song, “Cash in the Attic,” along with plenty of other music he has put together for us. On a side note, Mr. Patrick may be from the New Jersey, but we’ll save a place for him in the Starkville City Jail any day.
